Paul Smith

Paul Smith is Head of Civil and Commercial Litigation and has specialised in these areas of law for more than 30 years.

For over 20 years, I was partner and head of litigation at Blackhams solicitors in Birmingham. In 2009 I launched my own specialist litigation and dispute resolution practice (PJS Law) which became merged with Taylor Fordyce in 2012.

Throughout my career, I have been driven by the desire to help clients achieve a resolution to their legal problems. After qualifying and prior to specialising, I gained wide experience during a post qualification period I often describe as a '10 year apprenticeship', working as a general litigation solicitor in all areas of civil, family law and criminal law. This experience enabled me to acquire a 'street wise' reputation and gain extensive knowledge and expertise in most areas of civil law; but particularly those involving court proceedings (litigation) or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for either claimants or defendants.

I regularly receive instructions from business clients (including companies, partnerships and sole traders) on their legal problems, but equally undertake work from individuals seeking my advice in relation to a range of different matters. Typically, these will involve claims for breach of contract and breaches of duty, personal injury, professional negligence, rights over land or property, trusts and inheritance claims.
