Liz Walker has specialised in family law work for some 30 years.

I have been based within the local area of Ascot and Sunningdale and have covered virtually all areas of law since the start of my legal career. I chose to specialise in family law early on as an area which has always been of great interest to me.

As a mother, I have huge empathy with my clients. I feel that this is a crucial skill to have when acting for clients during times of hardship, as this enables me to offer expert advice as well as support. This is a pivotal skill through difficult times such as relationship breakdowns, child-related problems or with sensitive matters arising with elderly relatives. Although my own children are now adults, I am able to draw upon experiences from both my personal life and career to enable me to understand the complex range of problems that can arise in these situations.

I strive to adopt a conciliatory but firm approach to my work and am always quick to defuse any potential acrimony early on. This is crucial when acting for a client going through a relationship breakdown and I know the importance of achieving harmony; regardless of the facts of the matter. This will ensure that both parties are able to provide consistent co-parenting to any children involved.

My experience in financial settlements arising from family breakdowns ranges from those with modest assets to high net worth cases. My approach however, is the same in all cases and that is to provide the best service to my clients, to work conscientiously and expeditiously to reach a fair financial settlement and to keep legal costs to a minimum (based on the facts of each case).

In addition to family and matrimonial work, I am also able to private client services in Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney, from our offices in Sunningdale.

Law is a second career for Liz. She first started working in the television industry for Welsh Television (TWW) who subsequently lost their licence to Harlech television. This coincided with Liz and her husband starting their family and she put her career on hold to bring up her two children.

Liz moved to Ascot in 1980 with her husband and children and that is when she started working for a local firm of Solicitors. She found that she loved the work and was quickly encouraged by her employers to obtain a legal qualification. She first qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and shortly afterwards qualified as a solicitor. Liz is accredited by the Law Society for Family Law.
