What is it?

The Green Deal is the government’s flagship initiative (remember Mr Huhne, Lib Dem MP for Eastleigh and energy minister - it was his last political initiative) and is aimed at improving energy efficiency in buildings in Great Britain by creating a ‘pay for it as you save’ financing arrangement which will allow home owners to purchase and install energy efficiency measures, such as loft insulation; modern heating controls; clever free energy sourced engineering for heating, etc from Green Deal Participants (the agencies and bodies who will provide the finance and arrange the installation).

The Green Deal Framework Regulations 2012 sets out the guidance for when sanctions may be imposed for breaches under the regulations. The regulations basically cover issues relating to Provider; Installer; Assessor; Disclosure; Consent; Finance.
