SOBAL is a bi-lateral society of British and Argentine lawyers which was launched by the law Society in June 1997. Peter Taylor is currently SOBAL’s Chairman.
The main objectives of the Society are to:-

  • Develop and strengthen legal, business and cultural links between Argentina and the United Kingdom;
  • Encourage mutual collaboration between lawyers in Argentina and the United Kingdom;
  • Encourage and facilitate the education and training of United Kingdom and Argentine lawyers;
  • Exchange information and ideas in relation to professional training, access to justice and other legal topics of mutual interest on a bi-lateral basis; and
  • Organise programmes for social and professional events.

SOBAL was recently re-launched at a reception held by the Law Society in 2008 – ahead of a trade mission by the Law Society and UK Trade & Investment delegations to the International Bar Association’s Conference held in Buenos Aires in October 2008. Click here for more details.
SOBAL is keen to recruit new members to the Society and to develop its aims and objectives as well as to cement ties between the two jurisdictions.
